Art post: Brad/Nate, Frat AU

Title: Untitled
Author: fourfreedoms
Fandom: Generation Kill
Pairing: Brad/Nate
Rating: G
Summary: Art for the Fratboy AU.
Notes: This piece basically ended up being a summary for the entire fic. Nate doesn't know what to do with himself and Brad is waiting for him to realize they're madly in love.

I started this forever ago, when I was still struggling to finish the fic, because I wanted something to keep me going on it even though I wasn't in the mood to write. I'd had Brad finished forever, and forgot about Nate. I found the pdf again today and just spent the entire day working on it. Eventually I had to throw up my hands. Nate really wanted to look like Monet Mazur. I don't even know. I was using two references for his face, a still from Twelfth Night and that picture in the horrid camo cap and orange shirt, AND STILL ZERO RESEMBLANCE.

Points if you can tell where his outfit and pose came from. There was another version where Nate's pants were dark grey, but I thought his outfit was too close to Brad's that way. I was actually savvy enough to come up with Brad's outfit myself. Probably why it doesn't look quite right.

Originally I was planning to have this be in response to some ridiculous prank that Ray had pulled, but Nate's face refused to cooperate with me and he insisted on looking sad rather than incredulously amused and when I drew in obvious smile lines he looked like he was a fifty-year-old who was still really sad rather than smiling. Fucker.

Also, have this remix of Taio Cruz's "Break Your Heart". I don't know why but it really seemed like an angsty look at Brad and Nate. Brad being all, "I suck at romance, I'm actively out to sabotage myself," and poor Nate being like, "but I just want to go to Harvard and won't you come with me?"

Well there's an angst fic in there somewhere.
